Route from Pune to Goa
When you start your Pune to Goa road trip, you will find many routes for the journey. Depending on the route you chose, it will take you from 9 hours to 12 hours of travel time.
The shortest Pune-Goa route is 454 km long. It goes via AH 47. The roads on this route are good, without any road closures. In this route, you start from Pune and cross Khandala, Satara, Kolhapur, Khanapur and Mollem before finally reaching Goa. It will take you about 9 hours and 15 minutes of driving.
Another route is via NH 66. This route is about 497 km long, which requires close to 10 hours and 20 minutes of time.
If you are travelling to Goa via Mumbai Highway, then it will take you about 12 hours and 15 minutes. This Pune-Goa route is comparatively longer and has a distance of 573 km. On this route, you will go via Bhigwan, Nimagaon, Belgaum and Khanapur.
Places to visit in Goa
Calangute Beach
You can not miss Calangute beach when in Goa. It is one of the busiest beaches here, filled with beach shacks, clubs, shops and facilities for water sports. This beach is quite close to other famous beaches like Baga Beach, Anjuna Beach, Candolim Beach, Vagator Beach, etc.
Fort Aguada
Located on the Aguada-Siolim Road in Candolim, this majestic fort was built in the 17th century by the Portuguese for defence against Dutch and the Marathas. Located on top of a hill, it offers a panoramic view of the Mandovi River and the Arabian Sea. The sunset from here is especially captivating.
Basilica of Bom Jesus Church
One of the oldest churches of India, it is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Constructed in 1594, this church showcases beautiful architecture with detailed carvings and exquisite interiors. In this Church, remains of St. Francis Xavier has been kept. There is also an art gallery in the church compound.
Dudhsagar Falls
Boasts of being one of the tallest waterfalls in India with a height of 310 metres, Dudhsagar falls is going to hypnotise you with its serene beauty. Here you will see a four tiered waterfall, cascading in the midst of Western Ghats. It is located around 60 km from Panaji, and can be reached via trekking or a car/bus.
Arambol Beach
A vibrant beach offering breathtaking sunsets, beach shacks with live fusion music, Arambol is a truly Goan beach. Visit this beach for its Bohemian feel.
