For the Pune to Khandala road trip, you will have two common routes. One of the routes is 71.4 km long. It takes around 1 and half hours of driving to cover this distance, which goes via Bengaluru – Mumbai Highway//Mumbai – Pune Highway/Mumbai – Pune Expressway/Mumbai – Satara Highway/Yashwantrao Chavan Expressway.
The other Pune-Khandala route is through Mumbai – Pandharpur Road/Old Mumbai – Pune Highway. This route is about 61 km long and will need about 1 hour and 50 minutes of travel time.

Kune Waterfalls
Visit Kune waterfalls and treat yourself with the thundering music of its water streams. 14th largest waterfall of India, it is three tiered and has a height of 660 feet. Lohagad Fort
Offering striking panoramic views, this fort stands magnificent at a height of 3400 feet above sea level. Recognised as a UNESCO world heritage site, this fort was initially built in the 10th century and came under many dynasties and was later built by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. This massive fort has four gates- Ganesh Darwaja, Narayan Darwaja, Hanuma Darwaja and Maha Darwaja, each located in villages nearby.
Shooting Point
Another place that you must visit for a memorable view is the Shooting point. As the name suggests, at this point the Bollywood movie- Sholay was shot. From here, along with the surrounding greenery, you can also see the Rajmachi Fort. It is quite popular among rock climbers and trekkers.
Duke’s Nose
Undeniably one of the best viewpoints, Duke’s Nose is located only 6.5 km from Khandala. This scenic location is popular for rock climbing, trekking, as well as many other outdoor activities. You can do Rappelling, Zip lining and Traversing here. Overnight camping is also an option here.
Visapur Fort
Located 19 km away from Khandala, this hill fort impresses everyone with its majestic structure and historical significance. It is believed that the well inside the fort was built by Pandavas. Standing at an altitude of 1084 metres above sea level, this fort is a known site for trekking and hiking. The view of the surrounding valley from here is hypnotising.
